New Material On Board
Say "Hello" to Douglas Fir
I'm always on the lookout for high quality material out of which to build my furniture. My recent discovery: Douglas Fir gymnasium bleachers no longer in commission. These are now beautifully planed boards. Douglas Fir is a solid wood that is both durable and nice looking. Unlike Douglas Fir that you could buy at a lumber yard today, this is old growth lumber.
Old growth lumber means that it was grown long ago in dense forests. This caused the trees to grow very slowly, and as a resut, the wood has very tight growth rings, and is very dense and durable.
I am now offering chairs out of Douglas Fir in addition to Red Cedar. These chairs feature the same great design, but with thicker boards (7/8"). They are durable and attractive and sure to be a great addition to your house, camp or porch.
